Chevron CEO: Opposing the "unwise" diesel export ban, claiming it may exacerbate the supply crisis

According to CoinMeta, Mike Wiles, CEO of Chevron, warned on Wednesday that it would be "unwise" for the Trump administration to pursue a ban on diesel exports, stating that such a policy could exacerbate supply shortages. He pointed out that "the United States has always been a reliable supplier when the world needs it" and argued that the U.S. should not allow allies and partners to doubt its ability to provide a reliable supply during difficult times. Supply concerns seem to have eased with increased crude oil exports from the Middle East and the release of emergency G7 reserves, but energy market participants remain nervous amid ongoing attacks between Saudi Arabia and Houthi forces supported by Iran. The war between the United States and Iran has severely disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, which typically handles about 20% of the world's oil and liquefied natural gas supply, impacting the global economy. Amine Nassir, CEO of Saudi Aramco, stated earlier this week that it could take up to two years to rebuild global oil reserves and warned that supply tensions could further worsen as the conflict between the U.S. and Iran continues.
