According to CoinMeta and business insider reports, tech journalist Kevin Roose reviews some bizarre moments of OpenAI and Anthropic in his new book AGI Chronicles. The book mentions that OpenAI's CEO Sam Altman and co-founder Ilya Sutskever conducted a peculiar ritual at the company's retreat in 2022, where they burned a statue of a demon symbolizing out-of-control AGI. Roose also describes how OpenAI's team, during a meeting with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, used Surface's laptop to display GPT-2, resulting in a hilarious response that read "fire all employees and switch to Azure", which made Microsoft executives burst into laughter. In addition, Sutskever claimed during the ritual that AGI was pretending to be aligned with humans, but in reality, they were deceiving us.
