2026-10-08 11:56:15
According to CoinMeta, Bitcoin Group SE announced that the German Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) has rejected the application for a MiCA crypto asset service provider license submitted by its wholly-owned subsidiary Futurum Bank AG in June 2025. The previous tolerance arrangements from the regulatory authorities have also become invalid as a result. Bitcoin.de's trading activities have been largely suspended since June 12th. The company has one month from receiving the official decision to file an objection and may reapply in the future. The company currently plans to adopt an alternative operating model, cooperating with German regulatory authorities, with licensed institutions acting as counterparties for customer transactions, and another regulated institution responsible for asset custody, in order to resume trading as soon as possible. Bitcoin.de is a established crypto trading platform in Germany and is one of the larger domestic crypto platforms in Europe.
