Security agency Blockful reports: Humpy pressured Compound through employees of API3
2026-10-08 12:21:46
According to CoinMeta, a security firm Blockful released an investigation report stating that the governance attacker Humpy is using an employee Ugur Mersin of API3 to pressure Compound into staking their COMP as collateral in DCOMP in order to amplify their voting power. As a result, this entity has now become the largest single holder of Compound DAO. Previously, this stakeholder collaborated to block a renewal proposal from a security service provider Compound. Recently, they have submitted another on-chain proposal aiming to grant the governance layer the power to revoke transactions made by the Treasury Management Committee (TMC), in order to directly obstruct the daily funding allocation of TMC. Although the governance multi-signature has the authority to cancel malicious proposals, utilizing this mechanism could further intensify governance divisions. Blockful warns that engaging in tactics such as flooding forums to exert pressure, disrupting the normal operations of DAO, and attempting to interfere with control over the treasury closely aligns with the governance attack patterns previously observed in protocols such as Sushiswap and Balancer.
