CoinMeta data: According to Coinpedia, in the past 48 hours, the crypto market has lost over $200 billion in value. The price of Bitcoin fell below $81,000, and Ethereum dropped to $2,450. Approximately $1.4 billion in leveraged long positions were liquidated, with $410 million in liquidations occurring within a single hour. Due to geopolitical factors, all risky assets are under pressure. Trump stated on social media that the United States might launch another attack on Iran, but later said that no military action would be taken against Iran before the mid-term elections. Oil prices rose by about 5%, driving up bond yields and causing U.S. stock index futures to turn negative. U.S. bond yields are near their highest levels in decades. In the past few months, when yields and oil prices have risen, stocks and crypto assets have declined, and vice versa. The minutes from the Federal Reserve's most recent meeting were interpreted as hawkish, suggesting that another interest rate hike is expected in 2026. Higher interest rates increase borrowing costs, which typically harm speculative assets such as cryptocurrencies.
