2026-10-09 13:55:47
According to CoinMeta, French legislators have approved tax amendments regarding the conversion of cryptocurrencies into stablecoins, and investors are allowed to carry forward trading losses for up to 10 years as part of the 2027 budget. According to records from the French National Assembly, the Finance Committee passed the stablecoin tax amendments on October 7th, which also propose changes to the deduction of trading losses on digital assets against future earnings. These proposals are still in the committee stage and require further legislative review to become law. The amendments will take effect on January 1, 2027, at which time the conversion of cryptocurrencies into qualified electronic currency tokens will be considered taxable transactions. Current French tax law allows individuals to exchange one cryptocurrency for another without immediately recognizing the taxable capital gain.
