Hong Kong Police: 40 investment scams reported in the past week, resulting in losses of over HK$36 million

According to CoinMeta, and as reported by aastocks, the Hong Kong police's "Net Guardians" social platform announced that over the past week, they have received more than 40 cases of investment scams, resulting in losses of over HKD 36 million. Among them, a woman in her sixties was induced to invest in cryptocurrencies. Over half a year, she made more than 20 transfers to a fake investment website, totaling approximately HKD 19 million. At one point, the website account showed a balance of over HKD 42 million. Later, under the pretext of unfreezing the funds, the scammer requested her to deposit an additional HKD 7 million. After she transferred another HKD 1.2 million, she became suspicious and reported the case, ultimately suffering losses of over HKD 21 million.
