SIM-Swap Fraudster Sentenced to Jail for Stealing Cryptocurrencies

According to CoinMeta, a man from London was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for participating in a complex SIM-Swap scam. His fraudulent activities resulted in the theft of nearly 200,000 pounds (about $265,000) in cryptocurrency. The 25-year-old Ajay Shinjin (also known as AJ Marley Cruz) admitted to a conspiracy to commit fraud and transfer criminal proceeds through false statements on September 28. Shinjin obtained over 44,000 pounds from the stolen funds, which he spent on luxury vacations in Dubai, high-end apartments, and gold teeth. Police stated that SIM-Swap scams are a complex and increasingly serious form of crime that brings devastating consequences to victims.
