OpenAI reported annual revenue 20 billion dollars less than expected, sparking a strong market reaction

According to CoinMeta, OpenAI has an annual revenue of about $50 billion, which is $20 billion less than the $68 billion reported in September. The difference is due to accounting methods rather than insufficient demand. The market reacted sharply, with Oracle's stock price falling by 5%, CoreWeave's by 8%, and NVIDIA's by nearly 3%. The Nasdaq 100 index also dropped by 300 points in just 30 minutes. Analysts believe that the market's valuation of AI's infrastructure is heavily reliant on the revenue expectations of a few large customers. OpenAI's method of calculating net revenue is considered more conservative, reflecting the company's actual income after deducting infrastructure costs. Although the revenue gap caused market fluctuations, the underlying demand trend has not changed.
