2026-10-09 18:22:55
According to CoinMeta, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) issued a opinion on October 8th, requiring licensed crypto platforms to cease operations. ESMA expects that regulatory authorities in various countries will ensure that any remaining customer risks are addressed within three months. The opinion covers asset reference tokens and electronic money tokens, without specifically identifying any particular tokens. ESMA pointed out that crypto asset service providers "should not" engage in certain practices and emphasized their responsibilities under Article 66(1), which require them to serve customers in an "honest, fair, and professional" manner.
