According to CoinMeta, as reported by bitcoin and com, Franklin Templeton met with staff from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)’s Crypto Working Group on October 9th Eastern Time to discuss regulatory exemptions required for tokenized money market funds and trading through blockchain liquidity pools. The proposed agenda covered topics such as whether fees charged by liquidity providers for transactions involving fund shares and tokenized stocks or stablecoins comply with fund pricing regulations, and whether liquidity pools and liquidity provider shares require exemptions from relevant securities regulations. This discussion took place against the backdrop of the SEC’s innovative exemption mechanism for tokenized stock trading introduced in September SEC, and further addressed on-chain transactions of fund shares. Currently, there is no indication in the reports that the company has submitted a formal exemption application or received approval.
