CoinMeta Data: An insurance company supported by Sam Altman recently completed a financing round of $37.5 million. The company operates entirely on Bitcoin and has attracted the attention of wealthy families overseas. Based in Bermuda, this insurance firm stated that the financing came from existing investors, with Bain Capital Crypto leading the investment. Other participants included Haun Ventures, Framework Ventures, Pantera Capital, Apollo, Northwestern Mutual Future Ventures, and Morgan Creek Digital. The company claims to be the first to obtain an insurance license that operates solely on Bitcoin, with all assets, reserves, and financial statements denominated in Bitcoin. It received its first such license from the Bermuda Monetary Authority in July 2024 and collaborates with regulated institutional custodians to hold the Bitcoins of all policyholders. This financing round follows what the company describes as a record-breaking year, with international demand driving its growth.
