2026-10-12 05:18:28
According to CoinMeta, in a statement on October 11, Ledger stated that all cases confirmed of the crypto theft on October 9 were related to devices purchased through its authorized distributor in Southeast Asia, Cryptobilis. Ledger emphasized that the number of affected devices is limited, but did not specify the amount of money involved. The company stated that its own systems and direct sales channels were not affected by the incident and is working with relevant authorities to investigate the theft and is in contact with affected customers. Blockchain investigators estimate that over $86 million in digital assets may have been stolen, although this figure has not yet been officially confirmed. Ledger also confirmed that unauthorized hardware implants were found in the devices of affected customers, and investigators have not yet determined whether all reported theft incidents are related to similar modifications. Cryptobilis has confirmed the suspension of sales of all hardware wallets, and Ledger is also strengthening its supply chain security measures, including reviewing the control of authorized distributors and improving hardware anti-tampering protection.
