CoinMeta data: BeInCrypto reports that the U.S. Treasury Department is about to attempt a risk strategy, which is expected to involve cutting $3 billion from each 20- and 30-year bond auction and borrowing through short-term notes. Citigroup suggests that 20-year bonds may even be canceled, with a related announcement expected to be released on November 4th. The Treasury Department has not yet confirmed any changes. Currently, the cost of short-term notes is low, but their maturity period is shorter, forcing the government to refinance more frequently. The cost of long-term borrowing is near its highest level in decades; the yield on 10-year bonds closed at 5.24% on October 9th, and the yield on 30-year bonds was 5.60%. In addition, the national debt exceeded $40 trillion in August, with interest costs amounting to about $1.1 trillion per year. Crypto traders have already felt the rise in yields; BTC noted a decline when the 10-year yield reached its highest level since 2002, with the current trading price at $84,030, up 1.2% within 24 hours.
