Argentine Central Bank Governor: Banks may be allowed to engage in cryptocurrencies in the future
2026-10-12 08:41:24
According to CoinMeta, as reported by the Argentine media "la naci ón", the head of the Financial and Foreign Exchange Institutions Supervision Department of the Argentine Central Bank, Juan Curutchet, stated that in the future, banks and payment systems may be allowed to engage with digital assets such as cryptocurrencies. However, relevant policies will not be implemented this year or next year; discussions may not take place until President Macri begins his second term in office. Curutchet pointed out that Argentina's current financial system is still relatively fragile and does not yet meet the conditions for further liberalization. In 2022, the Argentine Central Bank prohibited banks from dealing with cryptocurrencies for their customers, and it is not yet clear whether this ban will be lifted.
