According to CoinMeta, and as reported by The Gulf Times, the police in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, have cracked the largest transnational crime case in the history of that police department. They successfully dismantled four interconnected criminal networks and arrested a total of 33 individuals and personnel from related companies involved in the crimes. The police revealed that the criminal gang had a clear division of labor, involving activities such as hacking and data theft, money laundering using virtual assets/cryptocurrencies, social engineering fraud targeting digital wallets, and violent physical attacks on victims to force them to reveal wallet passwords and mnemonic phrases. Investigators pointed out that the luxurious lifestyle of the suspects, including luxury cars, expensive watches, and jewelry, attracted attention. A young suspect with a high level of technical expertise became the key to solving the case. After analyzing hundreds of digital evidences and identifying the leaders of the criminal networks, the police launched a joint raid and eliminated all of them.
