According to CoinMeta, and as reported by Decrypt, the Virtual Currency Department of the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office in New York collaborated with FBI to successfully dismantle a transnational crypto investment fraud network targeting Russian-speaking communities across the United States. A total of 112 servers and 241 associated website domains were seized and shut down. The servers in question were primarily hosted in Eastern Europe and the United States, while the core infrastructure of the gang was distributed in locations such as Ukraine. Forensic evidence from the servers revealed that the fraudsters would later pretend to be "asset recovery service providers" to carry out a second round of exploitation of their victims, with the total amount involved in the fraud reaching tens of millions of dollars. Previously, the prosecution had already shut down 400 related domain names. This time, by directly seizing the underlying servers, the aim was to completely paralyze their ability to quickly set up websites and communicate with victims. To date, law enforcement authorities have seized approximately 300,000 dollars in stolen funds, and the recovery of the stolen money is still ongoing.
