Ledger Launches a Smartphone-Like ATOM Wallet, Planning to Release in 2027

CoinMeta data: Hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger is developing a new device called ATOM, which resembles a smartphone in appearance and functionality rather than a traditional wallet. ATOM is scheduled to be released in mid-2027, marking a shift in the industry's focus on protecting digital assets towards more functional designs. This device runs on the Android system, and users will be able to install daily applications such as WhatsApp, Instagram, and TikTok, as well as switch between regular phone functions and protection modes for managing digital assets. The release of ATOM comes following a supply chain security vulnerability incident related to Malaysian distributor Cryptobilis; researchers estimate that the loss amounted to up to $93.2 million, affecting over 300 wallets. Ledger indicates that ATOM will adopt additional protective measures to counter such attacks.
