US PPI data soared in September, inflationary pressures continue to rise

According to CoinMeta, affected by rising energy costs, the U.S. Producer Price Index ( PPI ) in September exceeded expectations across the board, rising 1.3% month-on-month and 6.3% year-on-year. Excluding food and energy, the core PPI rose 0.7% month-on-month and 5% year-on-year. The report indicates that while fuel prices have increased, potential inflationary pressures in the United States remain stubborn. With just a few weeks left until the mid-term elections in November, the burden of living costs has become a central issue in the election campaign. These data may prompt Federal Reserve officials to continue raising interest rates in the coming months, especially since another report shows that a key consumer price indicator in the U.S. in September exceeded expectations. Price pressures are expected to remain high in the coming months, with an indicator measuring future six-month input price expectations rising to their highest level since 2022.
