CoinMeta data: The early hardware wallet implantation report of Ledger has drawn widespread attention. The former CEO of Mt, Gox, Mark Karpel, pointed out that Ledger had received multiple reports of malicious hardware implants before its latest security crisis. Karpel stated that he knew of at least two people who contacted Ledger in December 2025 to report device tampering. Security researcher Joe Grand also reported a malicious implant in a Nano X purchased in Thailand on Lazada to Ledger on March 4, 2026. Ledger confirmed that the affected devices contained unauthorized implants but did not respond to this report.
