According to CoinMeta, the chairman of the US CFTC, Mike Selig, stated that CFTC has exclusive jurisdiction over prediction markets because fraud and manipulation activities are not limited by state boundaries. Prediction market exchanges operate across states, matching buying and selling quotes from customers all over the United States. Congress has authorized CFTC to enforce uniform standards, monitor and investigate fraud and manipulation activities, and protect customer funds across states.
