According to CoinMeta, as reported by journal, du, and coin, the French National Assembly passed an amendment to the 2027 budget bill on October 16th. The amendment proposes to include transactions involving the conversion of crypto assets into electronic currency tokens under the MICA framework within the scope of capital gains taxation starting from January 1, 2027. Such transactions will be subject to a uniform tax rate of 31.4%, and the obligation to pay taxes will be triggered even if the assets are not converted into euros. This measure applies to stablecoins such as USDC and EURC. According to Chainalysis, USDT will not be covered by this measure. The amendment still needs to go through further budgetary voting and Senate review before it officially becomes law.
