According to CoinMeta, Jump Trading and DRW are increasing their investment in the financial derivatives market linked to AI computing power, planning to trade computing power futures and other contracts to help companies hedge against fluctuations in the rental prices of GPU. Both companies entered the cryptocurrency market early on and are now attempting to replicate similar market-making experiences. Jump has already formed a dedicated trading team that will use its own balance sheet to bear trading risks and plans to prepare computing power futures for institutions such as CME and Silicon Data, while also paying attention to related products from ICE and Ornn. DRW plans to participate in computing power trading through three teams and has already invested in Silicon Data and Ornn. The related futures products of CME are still awaiting regulatory approval. Boston Consulting Group estimates that the global AI computing power market could reach $2.3 trillion by 2030. Although the computing power derivatives market is still in its early stages and lacks price transparency, whether Jump and DRW can turn computing power into tradable and hedgable standardized assets remains to be seen by the market.
