According to CoinMeta, the anti-fraud startup apate.ai has recently drawn attention. The company has deployed thousands to about 350,000 AI proxies that pretend to be ordinary victims of different ages and accents. These proxies answer fraud calls around the clock, respond to phishing texts, click on malicious links, and infiltrate scammers' group chats. Their core task is to act foolishly to buy time, gather information such as scammers' bank card numbers, cryptocurrency wallet details, and fake websites, and then provide this information to banks and telecommunications companies for enforcement actions. The company claims to have completed over 2.5 million conversations, consuming approximately 17 years of scammers' working time in total, and has extracted more than 250,000 pieces of actionable intelligence. Their clients include the Australian Federal Bank, TPG Telecom, and other organizations, which have publicly reported a significant reduction in fraud losses. In August 2026, apate.ai completed a $8.15 million seed round of financing and has raised nearly $10 million in total. The company is now pursuing global expansion, including setting up an office in London and strengthening its presence in the United States.
