CoinMeta Data: According to Coindesk, a report released by blockchain security company Hacken shows that in the third quarter of 2026, there were 107 security incidents in the crypto industry, resulting in losses of $1.18 billion, a 55% increase from the previous quarter. Of this amount, approximately $906.8 million was due to intrusions into suppliers or development tools, known vulnerabilities not being fixed in time, and related components not being included in the latest audits. Hacken, co-founder Andrii Matiukhin, pointed out that project teams often only audit critical smart contracts, while wallets, signing systems, and third-party software may not be covered, leading investors to mistakenly assume that the overall project is secure. The report states that the most significant incident in the third quarter was the attack on Bitget, which resulted in losses of at least $352 million, as attackers exploited vulnerabilities in third-party security products to gain access to the withdrawal infrastructure. Hacken emphasizes that security audits cannot replace continuous vulnerability management; project teams still need to fix known vulnerabilities in a timely manner and ensure that audits cover system components that actually affect financial security.
