Microsoft and Meta lead AI in cutting expenditures; companies begin to tighten their investments

CoinMeta data: As costs rise and returns disappoint, companies such as Microsoft and Meta are cutting back on artificial intelligence expenditures. Research shows that corporate spending on AI is slowing down, despite an ongoing increase in adoption rates. Microsoft is reportedly cutting its internal spending on Anthropic by more than a third, with annual expenditures expected to exceed $1 billion. Meanwhile, Meta has reduced the number of Claude code users from about 60,000 to 30,000, turning to internally developed alternatives. The latest Ramp AI index indicates that in September, corporate adoption rates reached 55.9%, but growth in new customers has significantly slowed down. Despite the increase in usage, corporate spending on AI tokens has barely increased for two consecutive months. Ramp attributes this slowdown to declining model prices and improved efficiency, allowing companies to achieve more without increasing their budgets.
