BIS releases paper on cross-border payments using stablecoins
2026-10-20 09:44:17
According to CoinMeta, the Bank for International Settlements released Working Paper No. 1385, which analyzes the use of stablecoins in cross-border payments. The paper indicates that stablecoins can reduce reliance on correspondent banks and SWIFT through networks such as Ethereum, Solana, and Tron, thereby lowering transfer fees. However, the exchange process between fiat currencies and stablecoins still involves transaction, withdrawal, and deposit fees, and insufficient market depth limits the cost advantages of large-value payments.
