According to CoinMeta, blockchain security research institutions asymmetric and research have disclosed that there was a vulnerability in the Solana on-chain governance procedure svmgov. Specifically, when validators did not participate in the voting, independent votes submitted in advance by their proxies might not be counted in the final results. This vulnerability was reported to the Solana foundation on July 10th, and the mainnet fix was completed on August 3rd, prior to the governance vote on August 24th. asymmetric and research calculated based on on-chain data that if the vulnerability had not been fixed, the approval rate of the sgp-0002 proposal, which aimed to accelerate the reduction of SOL inflation, could have dropped from the actual 67.00% to 66.65%, below the passing threshold of 66.67%. Fortunately, this vulnerability was fixed before the vote, and it did not actually change the outcome of the proposal.
