Elon Musk's xAI faces a data center lawsuit; Judge dismisses Trump administration's intervention

According to CoinMeta, Musk's artificial intelligence company xAI is facing a federal environmental lawsuit after a judge in Mississippi rejected the Trump administration's attempt to dismiss the case. Judge Debra Brown ruled that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) can participate in the lawsuit but cannot unilaterally terminate it based on the legal arguments presented by the government. The lawsuit accuses xAI and its subsidiary MZX Tech of operating natural gas power facilities in South Haven, Mississippi, without obtaining the required environmental permits. The plaintiffs, including NAACP and its local chapter in Mississippi, filed the lawsuit under the federal Clean Air Act and state environmental laws. The dispute in this case centers on whether such facilities require permits and whether they comply with applicable environmental regulations.
