After the floods in Nepal and the Tibet region continued to expand, Ripple announced on August 28 that it would provide $300,000 in relief funds to support emergency food distribution, clean water supply, and sanitation services for the affected communities. The company disclosed that these funds would be allocated to World Central Kitchen and Mercy Corps, two organizations that are already involved in rescue efforts on the ground.
The death toll has risen to several hundred.
According to Reuters, as of August 29, at least 669 people died in Nepal and another 7 people died in Tibet, with nearly 3,000 people missing. Nepalese officials estimate that the cost of post-disaster reconstruction could reach $5 billion.
This flood disaster occurred after the collapse of glacial material near the border between Nepal and China. The floodwaters struck settlements and transportation routes along the way, damaging roads, bridges, power facilities, and buildings, thus hindering rescue efforts and the transport of supplies.
Two institutions have already taken action locally.
World Central Kitchen is providing meals to the affected areas through its catering partners. Mercy Corps is collaborating with local governments and other humanitarian organizations to advance water supply, sanitation, and post-disaster recovery efforts.

Ripple indicates that this new funding will be prioritized for immediate rescue needs, including providing meals to affected residents, as well as supporting the restoration of clean drinking water and sanitation facilities.
RLUSD has been used for aid payment exploration.
This donation continues Ripple's disaster assistance efforts in recent years. In 2023, Ripple also provided relief support after earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, with partners including World Central Kitchen and Mercy Corps.
The company disclosed that the cooperation between the two parties has since extended to the testing of payment tools. Ripple once stated in 2025 that World Central Kitchen and Mercy Corps are among the non-profit organizations exploring the use of Ripple Payments and RLUSD stablecoins to accelerate the flow of cross-border aid funds.
