On September 15th, Google announced the opening of a batch of third-party connectors in Gemini, for, and Google Workspace. The initial list includes Asana, Atlassian Rovo, HubSpot, Intuit Mailchimp, Intuit QuickBooks, monday.com, and Salesforce. The connection method uses the MCP model context protocol. For ordinary users, this change is straightforward: when asking questions in the sidebars of Docs, Sheets, and Slides or within Google Chat, Gemini can access information from these systems within the scope permitted by administrators, without the need to download files, copy fields, and then re-post the data back into the dialog boxes. For the enterprise software market, this is not just about adding seven more plugins; it represents an acceleration in the competition for integration points between office suites, customer relationship management systems, project collaboration tools, and financial software.

From "writing for me" to "finding for me, stringing together for me, and advancing for me"

In the past two years, the most common tasks in office work have been rewriting emails, summarizing documents, and generating tables. These tasks address issues within individual files, but they struggle to solve the most time-consuming problems in real work: for example, at which stage a sales opportunity is stuck, which ticket is related to a project delay, and whether the marketing list for the month matches the payment records. The answers are usually scattered across multiple different systems. Employees have to switch back and forth between browser tabs, export data, and then piece together the information manually to get a clear picture. This time, by integrating seven systems into one, we are essentially expanding the scope of searchable business context.

The role of MCP is to describe external tools, resources, and executable actions to the model in a relatively unified manner. It does not automatically eliminate differences in data definitions between different systems, but it can reduce the cost for each AI platform to repeatedly develop private interfaces for each application. For example, users can inquire about the progress of a task through Google Chat, and then organize the results into Docs; the sales team can retrieve stage information from CRM when writing customer responses in Gmail; financial personnel can view records from QuickBooks when analyzing data in Sheets. The real value lies not in a single response, but in the ability to obtain information and carry out subsequent writing within the same work interface.

The available entry points listed in Google also have their limitations. According to the official documentation, end-users can access third-party connectors from the Gemini sidebars of Docs, Sheets, and Slides as well as from Google Chat. However, it is not claimed that all Workspace applications and all functions are fully integrated. What a connector can return or whether it can perform write operations depends on the specific implementation of the provider, the user's permissions within the original system, and the administrator's policies. To interpret "can interact" as meaning that AI can operate the business system on behalf of employees without any restrictions is an exaggeration of the current capabilities.

The composition of the first batch of partners is noteworthy. Asana, Rovo, and monday.com cover project and knowledge collaboration, HubSpot and Salesforce cover customer relations, while Mailchimp focuses on marketing, and QuickBooks deals with the finance of small and medium-sized enterprises. Together, they form a business chain that encompasses customer acquisition, follow-up, delivery, and accounting. Google does not just choose content tools; instead, it extends its reach into the areas of enterprise data that are most dense with information. Whoever can provide stable and auditable answers to these data is more likely to become the first thing employees turn to every day.

This has also changed the relationship between SaaS manufacturers and office platforms. On one hand, connecting to Workspace makes it easier for third-party applications to be used by existing customers, reducing data silos; on the other hand, as more and more users complete queries through the Gemini interface, the visibility of the original application's interface and brand may decrease. SaaS manufacturers need to prove that their value lies not just in a set of pages, but also in data structures, permission systems, business rules, and reliable capabilities that can be called by agents.

Once enabled by default, permissions and auditing are more important than the demonstration effect.

According to Google, this feature is enabled by default for users with access rights to Gemini, for, and Google Workspace. Administrators can manage it by domain, organizational unit, or group, and they can decide which third-party connectors to enable. This detail is even more crucial than "supporting seven applications." The main obstacle to enterprises deploying AI is often not that the model cannot answer questions, but rather that it may bring information that should not be aggregated into the wrong conversations. Enabling it by default speeds up adoption and also shifts the responsibility of checking administrator configurations, original system permissions, and log retention to before the launch.

Connectors should not bypass the access control of the source system. Ideally, employees should only be able to see the data for which they are authorized to view through Gemini; access rights should also be automatically revoked after they leave the company, change roles, or when project permissions change. However, in real-world environments, there are often shared accounts, historical user groups, overly broad CRM roles, and API authorizations that are not cleared for a long time. Once AI makes queries easier to perform, old permission issues are amplified: in the past, one needed to know where the data was located to find it, but now a simple natural language query can aggregate results across systems.

Enterprises also need to distinguish between read and write risks. Read errors may lead to incorrect judgments or information leakage; write errors, on the other hand, could result in the modification of customer records, the creation of tasks, or the initiation of marketing processes. Even if connectors support certain actions, confirmation steps, minimal permissions, and traceable logs should still be in place for high-impact operations. For financial data, customer information, and personnel details, it is best to impose additional restrictions on sensitive fields, rather than assuming that just because something is "connected" it can be called upon at will.

The freshness of data also affects the accuracy of answers. Project status, sales phases, and financial records change rapidly. Whether the connector returns real-time queries, cached results, or a snapshot from a certain synchronization will directly determine whether users can rely on the information provided. Enterprises should test source annotations, update times, prompts in case of failures, and how to handle conflicting data. A well-crafted summary that does not indicate its source may be more dangerous than an original table that requires manual verification, as it is more likely to give people a sense of certainty.

From the perspective of competitive landscape, office AI is shifting from a competition of model capabilities to a comprehensive contest involving depth of connectivity, management capabilities, and ecological coverage. Microsoft possesses its own office and enterprise software systems, while Salesforce, Atlassian, and others are also building their own entry points. Google has chosen to integrate multiple systems through MCP into Workspace, with the aim of making Gemini a coordinating layer across applications. The number of connections can increase rapidly, but what is truly difficult to replicate are identity mapping, permission inheritance, stability, and corporate auditing experience.

This feature is currently available to the Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains, covering multiple versions such as Business, Enterprise, consumer, and educational versions. However, the specific eligibility is still subject to the versions listed in Google and the administrator's configuration. It does not imply that business tasks have been automated, nor does it mean that the data across the seven systems is inherently consistent. A more accurate assessment would be that Gemini has taken a step towards becoming an entry point for business context from a document assistant. Whether enterprises are willing to entrust critical processes to it depends on whether the connectors can consistently provide results that are traceable, authorized, and accountable in a daily environment.

Solana Mainnet enables 4096-byte transactions: More space, but also brings upgrade pressure on indexers
Solana will enable v1 transaction-related functions on the mainnet Epoch on September 15th at 01:20 UTC. The maximum size of a single transaction will be increased from 1232 bytes to 4096 bytes, which is approximately 3.3 times the original size. The official upgrade page indicates that the activation is expected to occur at this time, and the mainnet status will be marked as activated. The new format provides more space for zero-knowledge proofs, large multi-signatures, batch processing, and some on-chain signature schemes, reducing the need for developers to split a single operation into multiple transactions. The existing legacy and v0 transactions will continue to function, so this is not a hard fork that requires all wallets and applications to switch immediately.

Final Launches Shannon Development Network: An "Adaptive Blockchain" Begins with Restricted Testing
The new public chain Final announced on September 15th that its first major version, Shannon, is already running on the development network. The project positions itself as an “adaptive blockchain network” and showcases a structure composed of a main chain and a transaction chain, with plans to provide core facilities such as derivatives, spot trading, and stablecoins at the protocol layer. What needs to be clarified at this point is that what has been launched is Devnet, not the mature mainnet intended for everyone. The official website states that Shannon will be open to the public “in the near future,” and the current page still provides an application access link; functions such as wallets, bridges, and documentation are also marked as upcoming.

Canadian wholesale sales rose slightly by 0.3% in July: Building materials saw strength, but actual sales decreased by 0.6%
On September 15, Statistics Canada announced that in July 2026, wholesale sales increased by 0.3% month-on-month at current prices, reaching C$91.4 billion. This figure does not include oil, petroleum products, and other hydrocarbons, nor does it include oilseeds and grains. On the surface, there was little change in sales amounts, with growth even observed in the building materials and food sectors; however, when calculated at constant prices, total sales volume decreased by 0.6%. The increase in nominal amounts while the actual quantity decreased indicates that price factors supported the data for that month, and it also serves as a reminder to the market that one positive growth figure alone should not be used to conclude that demand has strengthened.

UK job vacancies drop to 702,000: Employment hasn't stopped abruptly, but corporate recruitment has returned to levels seen a decade ago
The Office for National Statistics in the UK released the latest labor market data on September 15. From June to August 2026, there were an estimated 702,000 job vacancies, which is a decrease of 8,000 from March to May, representing a 1.1% decline. Excluding the pandemic period, the last time there were 702,000 or fewer job vacancies was from August to October 2014, when there were 701,000 vacancies. Meanwhile, the unemployment rate from May to July was estimated at 4.9%, and the employment rate was 75.1%; average regular wages increased by 3.5% year-on-year, while total wages including bonuses grew by 3.9%. These figures indicate a market where recruitment demand remains low and wage growth is slowing down.
