[Mohave, California, September 30, 2026] Stratolaunch Today, we announce that the company has acquired a Boeing 777-200ER to further expand its fleet of aircraft in order to support our Talon-A autonomous, reusable, air-launched hypersonic flight test platform.
The company stated that the addition of this Boeing 777 will enhance the flight testing infrastructure, improve global deployment capabilities and flight capacity to meet customer needs, and at the same time, it will also enhance the company's ability to provide more services.
This acquisition represents another significant expansion of the Stratolaunch fleet and complements the company's existing transport assets: Spirit, of, Mojave, and Roc. The company stated that with three additional transport aircraft, Stratolaunch will be better equipped to maintain a continuous launch readiness state, thereby increasing the overall flight capacity by 35%.
The addition of Boeing 777 aircraft will also enhance the company's global deployment capabilities, enabling it to operate in locations around the world where needed. The expanded fleet will support a wider range of mission types, reduce schedule constraints, and accelerate the ability to expand flight operations, including the execution of concurrent missions.

The aircraft will be modified to enable the launch of a reusable, fully autonomous Talon-A hypersonic test vehicle from its fuselage, with completion expected in 2027.
The carrier aircraft of Stratolaunch will first transport Talon-A to high altitudes before launching it from the air, which is equivalent to providing a reusable first-stage rocket for hypersonic flight. Compared to traditional ground-based launch systems, this method offers a greater range, lower mission costs, more flexible deployment capabilities, and the ability to perform flights that are closer to real-world flight profiles.
This acquisition builds upon a series of milestones the company has achieved over the past year. In July 2026, the company announced that its Talon-A platform had completed more than 10 successful hypersonic flights; prior to that, in February 2026, the company announced that it had won a $90.8 million contract from the U.S. Department of War's Test Resource Management Center (TRMC) for the "Multi-Domain Advanced Capability Hypersonic Test Platform" (MACH-TB) project, which is used for air-launched capability test vehicles.
The company stated that these achievements collectively reinforce its commitment to advancing faster, lower-cost, and more flexible hypersonic test development.
