The price of Bitcoin is approaching an important resistance zone, and strong selling pressure is forming above the current price range.
The fourth quarter may become a decisive stage for the price of BTC. If there is an upward breakout, it could trigger a broader upward trend; if it encounters resistance, then the current consolidation pattern may continue.
Bitcoin closed above $82,000 this month, and is currently trading around $83,700, entering a consolidation phase after a significant rebound from its June lows. This rebound has pulled BTC back near a key resistance zone, but it has yet to break through the $85,000 to $90,000 range. This range is important because liquidation and large sell orders could make it more difficult for the next trend to develop. This structure puts Bitcoin at an important technical crossroads; if it breaks through this range upwards, it could open up space for higher pivot points.
Liquidity for settlement accumulates above and below the price of BTC.

There is a large amount of potential liquidity for clearing around Bitcoin. With the price of BTC trading around $83,700, the clearing chart shows a distinct dense area between $85,000 and $86,500 above the current range. Some of the largest individual clearing concentration areas appear near the mid-range of $85,000. This is important because if the price breaks through these levels, it could force leveraged shorts to close their positions, thereby accelerating the upward movement.
If it breaks through the first liquidity-intensive area, it could trigger a series of short squeezes and enhance the upward momentum. On the other hand, there is also significant concentration in the range of $82,000 to $83,000, with liquidity extending to the higher $70,000 range as well. Therefore, if the price breaks above $86,000, it may start to squeeze the shorts and drive the upward trend towards $90,000. Conversely, if it clearly falls below $82,000, it could increase downward volatility, with targets in the $80,000 to $78,000 range.
Large sell orders have formed a resistance level around $90,000.

The whale order chart for Coinglass shows that there is considerable seller liquidity stacked above the current market price. Large orders are distributed around $85,700, $87,000, $88,000, and $89,000, with a more pronounced concentration appearing around $90,000. The visible order ladder indicates that among the marked orders, the total amount of sell orders around $90,000 exceeds $20 million, and there is even more liquidity above that price level.
Therefore, before Bitcoin reaches $90,000, it is likely to encounter selling pressure several times. First, there is the range of $85,000 to $86,000, then further supply around $87,000 to $89,000, and finally the psychologically significant $90,000 level. This is considered potential upward supply, which does not mean that certain whales are deliberately preventing Bitcoin from continuing to rise.
Bitcoin struggles to break through the trend line
BTC is currently trading around $84,000 and continues to consolidate after a strong rebound from the lows between June and July. As long as BTC remains above the central pivot point of around $81,996, the price structure remains constructive. The chart also shows that an upward trend line connecting recent lows is providing additional support for the price.
Kinetic energy still favors the bulls, as RSI has been moving upward along the trend line. This indicates that buyers still hold momentum, but the market has not yet seen extreme RSI readings. The current resistance level is at 89,024 US dollars, which is the R1 pivot point. If the daily close exceeds this level, the psychological barrier of 90,000 US dollars is just around the corner. On the downside, 81,996 US dollars is the first major support level, followed by 76,596 US dollars.
What will happen next to the rebound in Bitcoin prices?
The price of Bitcoin has entered the trading phase of the fourth quarter of 2026, at a critical turning point. This rebound is still intact, but the market needs to prove that buyers are capable of absorbing the supply above the current price level. Before that happens, BTC may continue to fluctuate, with traders waiting for a clear breakthrough or resistance. Therefore, if the resistance remains effective, another round of consolidation or a deeper pullback cannot be ruled out. For now, at the beginning of the fourth quarter, Bitcoin is at a crucial decision-making point, and the next breakthrough could determine the direction of the broader trend.
