This milestone collaboration combines the laboratory testing of Function, with the personalized guidance provided by Medical Intelligence ( MI ) and Google Health, as well as Google wearable devices, to help people gain a deeper understanding of their own health conditions.

Austin, Texas, USA, October 12th / PRNewswire / -- Function and Google Health announced a partnership today with the aim of connecting people's daily behaviors with the changes that are taking place within their bodies. By later this fall, American users will be able to share the results of their Function laboratory tests with the Google Health app, thereby gaining a more comprehensive understanding of their health status. This partnership integrates daily tracking, Function laboratory tests, and Medical Intelligence ( MI ) into a user-friendly experience for everyday life.

Wearable devices such as Google Fitbit Air, Pixel Watch 5, and the new Google Fitbit Edge have changed the way people understand their own bodies, capable of tracking signals such as resting heart rate, sleep patterns, heart rate variability ( HRV ), and cardiopulmonary load. When combined with more than 160 laboratory tests conducted by Function, these signals can reveal what is happening beneath the surface. Subsequently, Medical Intelligence can transform each result into insights that people can understand and act upon.

Function, Co-Founder and CEO, Jonathan Swerdlin stated: "Everyone should have their own health. Health is shifting from being fragmented and isolated to being safely accessible and always available in daily decision-making."

This collaboration will integrate a deeper understanding of health into multiple fields, including:

  • Cardiovascular and metabolic health: Insights from key indicators such as apolipoprotein B ( ApoB ), lipoprotein(a) ( Lipoprotein(a) ), fasting insulin, and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein ( hs-CRP ) provide additional context for aspects that cannot be measured by wearable devices.
  • Hormones and Nutritional Health: More advanced tests for thyroid, sex hormones, and nutrition, covering a range that exceeds many standard health check-up items.
  • Connecting Habits with Health: Bringing daily behaviors and biological indicators into the same perspective to help people understand how changes in sleep, training, and nutrition are related to changes in health over time.

When combined with Google Health Coach, laboratory test results and structured personal health record background information will support customized health guidance based on each individual's biological characteristics, daily habits, and goals. This richer understanding can help people identify health changes earlier, make decisions regarding their daily habits more promptly, and communicate with clinicians in an informed manner.

Function and Google Health are expanding the possibilities for people to take control of their own health. This collaboration also marks another step forward in Function's mission: to enable 8 billion people to enjoy a 100-year healthy life.
