News from the IT community on October 13th: NVIDIA has officially announced that the 3D rendering model for DLSS 5 will receive a significant performance update this week, with the new model to be officially released on October 16th.
According to NVIDIA's official blog, through systematic rendering pipeline optimization and neural model refinement, the performance of the new model has reached twice that of the September version, and the GPU overhead has been reduced by about 50%. Compared to the first technical demonstration in March, the cumulative performance improvement has reached ten times.

NVIDIA also confirmed that the October update will reduce the model size by 24% to approximately 118 million parameters, and decrease memory usage at 4K resolution by 20%, while maintaining visual fidelity comparable to the September version. VideoCardz pointed out that these improvements come from optimizations to the rendering pipeline and the neural model itself, rather than the deletion of existing features from DLSS.

The new model will be launched first on NBA 2K27. In 4K scenarios, the frame rate of NBA 2K27 has been increased from 65 FPS to over 90 FPS, representing a more than 30% improvement compared to the September version.
NVIDIA's official blog states that the new model can achieve a maximum frame rate improvement of 1.4 times in NBA 2K27. The update will be rolled out on October 16 for GeForce RTX 50 series graphics cards, RTX Spark laptops, and GeForce NOW cloud gaming services, and it will become the default model for all future DLSS 5 games.
In terms of game support, NVIDIA has confirmed that "Hogwarts: Legacy" will receive support on November 5th for DLSS 5 platforms, covering the RTX 50 series, GeForce NOW, and RTX Spark platforms.
Developer Avalanche Software utilized the control functions of DLSS 5 to adjust the neural rendering effects, in order to maintain the original artistic style of the game. This update will also upgrade the game's existing DLSS technology to the latest version.
As previously reported by IT, NetEase's "Yanyun Sixteen Tones" will also follow suit and officially support DLSS in late November. This game currently has over 100 million players, with a peak of more than 250,000 players online at the same time. The community has a strong demand for official support of DLSS.
The modding platform RTX Remix will also receive support from DLSS on October 23rd. According to VideoCardz, modders will be able to utilize RTX Remix runtime and toolkit configurations for DLSS, including features such as object-specific control, visual effect adjustments, and scene masking. NVIDIA demonstrated the integration effects through two community projects: in Sparkles / Kim2091, the "Fallout 4" project saw enhanced helmet reflections, material details, and shadows; in SoftSoundd, the "Edge of Mirrors" project improved contact shadows, ambient light occlusion, and lighting responses.
In addition, NVIDIA also simultaneously released a Beta version of the DLSS frame generation performance mode ( Preset C), which is suitable for the RTX 40 series and RTX 50 series graphics cards, as well as RTX Spark laptops. This mode replaces the second AI model in frame generation with a more lightweight algorithm, improving frame rate at the expense of slightly reduced image quality. On the RTX 5060, it can achieve up to a 35% performance boost.
