Ledger has requested dealers and distributors in six Southeast Asian countries and Hong Kong to suspend the sale of its hardware wallets and remove the products from shelves, as the company is investigating devices with hidden implants. The company stated that the confirmed incidents are currently limited to Southeast Asia, and there has been no verification of any financial losses related to the purchase of devices in other regions; MediaMarkt Saturn in Germany has also stopped selling related products in its stores and online.

According to a tweet posted on Tuesday by Ledger, the company has requested that dealers and distributors in Southeast Asia and Hong Kong suspend the sale of their hardware wallets and remove the products from shelves during the investigation of devices with hidden implants.

This requirement covers Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.

Ledger indicates that the confirmed incidents are currently limited to Southeast Asia, and there has been no verification of any capital loss related to devices purchased in other regions. The company previously stated that all confirmed losses involved devices sold through distributors in that region, CryptoBilis.

Ledger is still working hard to determine who tampered with these devices and at which stage of the distribution chain the tampering occurred. The company stated that there are currently no signs that its own infrastructure, systems, services, or direct sales channels have been compromised.

Ledger also stated in another tweet that earlier on Tuesday, after obtaining the consent of Ledger, MediaMarkt Saturn had stopped selling Ledger devices in stores and online. Prior to this, a German customer reported finding an implant, but no financial loss was reported.

Competitor hardware wallet manufacturer Trezor stated on Tuesday that it will terminate its dealer authorization on January 1, 2027, calling this move a "precautionary measure." Trezor claimed that there is no evidence indicating that its own devices have been compromised.
