Key Points

  • XRPL The lending proposal has received support from 19 validators.
  • The confidential transfer feature has received support from 22 verifiers.
  • The new financial features have not yet reached the required activation threshold.

XRP Ledger is gradually approaching the introduction of native lending and privacy-focused token transfer functions, but several major network upgrades still lack sufficient validator support and are not yet ready for operation.

As of October 15th, the proposed amendment LendingProtocol has received support from 19 out of 35 validators, while ConfidentialTransfer has received 22 votes. Both still fall short of the 29 votes required for a supermajority to implement network amendments.

According to the XRPL Amendment Dashboard, support has increased since late September. At that time, LendingProtocol received 15 votes, and ConfidentialTransfer received 14 votes. However, neither of these proposals has yet received the continuous approval required for activation.

XRP Ledger The lending agreement still requires the support of another 10 validators.

The proposed XLS-66 Lending Protocol will directly introduce the native fixed-term lending feature into XRP Ledger.

Unlike decentralized lending systems that primarily rely on external smart contracts, the proposed framework will utilize the native functions of the ledger to initiate and manage loans, with loan funds coming from an asset pool.

The system also relies on another amendment, SingleAssetVault. The latter will allow depositors to pool their assets together and obtain tokenized treasury shares that represent their participation.

According to the snapshot of the vote on the XRP Ledger amendment on October 15, 2026, ConfidentialTransfer received the most support, with a total of 22 validators casting their votes in favor. SingleAssetVault followed closely with 21 votes, while both lending amendments each remained at 19 votes.

There has been progress since September according to the latest data. Coinpaper reported at that time that the support for verifiers was still below the required supermajority threshold.

According to the official XLS-66 specifications, this lending framework will support unsecured loans, while credit assessment and risk management will be handled outside of the ledger.

This is very important because native lending will introduce new financial capabilities, but it will not eliminate the risk of borrowers defaulting.

ConfidentialTransfer received 22 votes, XRPL aims to meet the privacy needs of institutions

Compared to the lending amendment, the privacy features proposed on the internet have attracted stronger support from validators.

ConfidentialTransfer currently holds 22 votes, which means that an additional 7 approvals are needed to reach the threshold displayed at present.

In the official documents, this proposal is described as XLS-96. It will introduce confidential transfer functionality for multi-purpose tokens through encryption technology and zero-knowledge proofs.

These cryptographic tools will allow transaction amounts and token balances to remain confidential, while also retaining mechanisms to verify the validity of transactions.

It should be noted that this proposal will not turn all transactions on XRP Ledger into private transactions. Its initial scope of application is targeted at supported multi-purpose tokens, rather than ordinary XRP transfers.

For financial institutions that are exploring tokenized securities and other assets, this privacy upgrade may be of practical significance, as in these scenarios, balance information that is commercially sensitive may need to be protected.

Coinpaper Previously, it was also reported that XRPL version 3.3.0 was released. This version provided support for several proposed features, but these features were not automatically activated on the mainnet.

XRP Ledger What will happen next after the upgrade?

According to the governance rules of XRPL, an amendment must maintain support from over 80% of validators for two consecutive weeks before it can be activated.

This means that reaching 29 votes will be an important milestone, but it will not immediately put the lending or privacy features into operation.

These lending proposals also carry implications at the institutional level. Nasdaq-listed company Evernorth holds approximately 473 million XRP, and has outlined plans to participate in financial strategies based on XRP once the appropriate infrastructure is available.

Your $500,000 mortgage could be packaged into a $1 billion bond even if you don't sell your house.
The article introduces the workings of the secondary mortgage market in the United States: banks can sell mortgage loans without transferring ownership of the property, and then package these loans further into mortgage-backed securities. It is reported that the terms of the borrowers' mortgage contracts generally do not change as a result of the sale of the loans. If there is a change in the loan servicing institution, borrowers are usually notified in advance and enjoy the protections provided by federal regulations.
