On Tuesday, there was a divergence in gains and losses among U.S. stock futures. U.S. stocks closed higher on the previous trading day, but AI related assets once again faced selling pressure.

As of press time, the S&P 500 futures have fallen by 0.4%, Nasdaq 100 futures have tumbled 0.8%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average futures have dropped by 66 points, representing a decline of 0.1%.

Micron Technology and Sandisk both fell by about 3%; Seagate Technology, Intel, and AMD all saw declines of over 2%. VanEck semiconductors ETF ( SMH ) fell by over 1%, while CoreWeave tumbled by more than 4%.

South Korean AI companies Elice tumbled by over 30% on their first day of trading after a night of listing, dampening sentiment in the tech sector. With growing concerns about debt and demand, investors have been worried recently about whether the performance of the AI sector can continue.

During regular trading hours on Monday in the U.S. stock market, the S&P 500 rose by 0.4%, and the Nasdaq Composite Index gained more than 1%. NVIDIA increased by 1.4%, Tesla soared by 3.8%, and Alphabet rose by about 1%.

This is a rebound following the sharp decline last week. Previously, there were concerns in the market that companies were heavily borrowing to invest in AI computing power construction, and the selling pressure spread to the broader market.

Yingtou Securities senior economist Jose Torres wrote: "Last Friday, on the eve of an intensifying wave of selling, the cost of volatility hedging soared during trading; now that market confidence in technology prospects has recovered, counterparties have begun to unwind their hedging positions, and Wall Street can heave a sigh of relief."

CoreWeave tumbled by over 25% last week. After Goldman Sachs upgraded its rating to 'buy', the stock tried to recover some of its losses, but the gains faded quickly in the early session, and it ultimately closed slightly lower.

Against the backdrop of U.S. stocks closing higher overnight, Asian and Pacific stock markets declined on Tuesday. The South Korean Composite Index ( Kospi ) fell by 3.73%; the Nikkei 225 index dropped by 1.3%; the Australian S&P/ ASX 200 index fell by 0.33%, to 8816.9 points.

Crude oil prices rise to $111.75, hitting a five-month high due to attacks on tankers and Saudi energy threats
Brent crude oil rose to $111.75 per barrel on October 20, hitting a five-month high, due to attacks on oil tankers and reports of threats to Saudi energy infrastructure, which exacerbated market concerns about disruptions in Middle Eastern supply. Although Middle Eastern crude exports have largely recovered, shipping risks, increased insurance costs, and declining global inventories have kept oil prices high.

My best friend and I share the same ex-husband, and we refer to each other as "ex-wife relatives".
The author writes that she and her best friend Shirley both married the same man at different times, which led them to jokingly refer to each other as "ex-wife relatives." This relationship was initially difficult for outsiders to understand, but through shared parenting, supporting each other during low times after divorce, and taking care of and saying goodbye to their respective mothers, their friendship grew stronger, eventually becoming one of the most important in each other's lives.
