Ibis announces the end of its stealth mode and obtains a credit line of $250 million from FalconX, with the aim of establishing institutional credit infrastructure for frontier markets.

This new on-chain lending platform is supported by a wide network of investors and will initially provide structured credit to crypto trading companies, with plans to expand to other emerging technology markets later on.

New York, October 28th / PRNewswire / -- Today, we announce the official end of our stealth mode. Ibis is a blockchain-based credit platform aimed at expanding access to credit for institutions in frontier markets. The company also revealed that it has reached a credit line arrangement of $250 million with FalconX. Additionally, the company announced the completion of pre-seed financing, led or participated in by FalconX as well as other well-known investors and industry executives from the fields of digital assets, institutional credit, capital markets, and financial infrastructure. Anchorage Digital Bank and N.A will serve as custody, banking, and design partners, while Innovating Capital will provide additional support in credit, transaction structure design, and strategic development.

Ibis initiates, tokenizes, manages risk, and serves structured credit arrangements, connecting institutional capital providers with companies that seek new, scalable sources of credit. The company was founded with the aim of addressing structural gaps in credit for frontier markets, as traditional lending infrastructure often does not suit emerging industries with complex risk profiles and rapidly evolving collateral. Ibis is building the infrastructure to underwrite, structurally design, and manage these opportunities, starting initially from the digital asset market.

"The pace of development in frontier markets has surpassed the speed at which the financial infrastructure to support them is being built. Today, many high-quality companies with solid fundamentals are not receiving sufficient support not because they lack credit, but because traditional underwriters are unwilling to innovate," said Cooper Emmons, founder and CEO of Ibis. "Our goal is to create a credit platform that can evolve alongside these markets, to assess, finance, and manage the needs of these emerging companies during their expansion in a more mature manner, and to involve more investors in this process. We initially identified this need in the vertical fields of cryptocurrency and predictive markets, but the underlying demand goes far beyond digital assets."

FalconX, the Co-Director of Global Markets, stated: "Access to reliable, institutional-level credit is an important component of the continuous maturation of digital assets. Ibis is building the infrastructure to help connect institutional capital providers with the new generation of participants in the on-chain market. As the digital asset market and other on-chain asset categories continue to evolve, scalable credit infrastructure will become increasingly important, contributing to sustainable growth."

The pre-seed financing participants of Ibis include FalconX, Anchorage Digital, and Innovating Capital, as well as executives from institutions such as Erebor, Revolut, Injective Foundation, Agora, Selini, Superstate, Flowdesk, Blockchain.com, DV Chain, Pyth, Colter Lewis, and GenCap Management.

The company initially focused on enterprises in the crypto capital market, which was merely the starting point for Ibis to enter broader opportunities. As these cutting-edge industries gradually mature, Ibis plans to expand its infrastructure to include more asset management institutions in emerging market sectors, such as GPU, robotics, and venture capital, while also expanding its network of institutional lenders and capital providers.

Investor Quotes

Nathan McCauley, Anchorage Digital Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder

Credit is one of the last pieces of institutional infrastructure still being built in the digital asset market. Ibis has adopted a prudent approach: structured financing arrangements, genuine underwriting, and collateral managed by Anchorage Digital Bank. It is this combination that allows institutional capital to participate with more confidence, and it is for this reason that we support this team both as partners and as investors.

Roshun Patel, Erebor Alternative Assets Credit Supervisor

Frontier markets need access to credit, and this gap has been quite large for a long time. In the lending business, structure is of paramount importance, and Ibis has already established an scalable structure. I am delighted to support their vision.

Jordi Alexander, Selini Chief Executive Officer

Digital asset trading companies have for a long time not received sufficient support from traditional lending institutions, not because of poor performance, but due to a lack of infrastructure. We look forward to Ibis bringing institutional-level credit to enterprises supporting the digital asset market and opening up new opportunities for investors.

Shiliang Tang, Monarq Asset Management Managing Partners

Enterprises that drive the development of frontier markets, such as digital asset trading companies, truly exist. They have strong profitability and are rapidly maturing, but the credit market has not yet kept up with their pace. Ibis is filling this gap through a platform that underwrites based on the fundamentals of these companies, and I am delighted to support them.

Anthony Georgiades, Innovating Capital General Partners

When collaborating with Ibis, we saw an opportunity to bring the discipline of private lending to enterprises that traditional lending institutions find difficult to serve. This means understanding the business of each borrower, designing financing arrangements around their risks, and providing capital providers with the downside protection and transparency they expect. We are delighted to bring our experience in credit and transaction structure design to Ibis to help them build the infrastructure needed to scale this model.
