Chicago, November 5th / PRNewswire / -- EDX Markets is a digital asset technology company that combines institutional-only trading venues with central clearing houses. The company announced today a collaboration with BitSafe to launch CBTC spot trading on Canton Network. CBTC is a bitcoin-backed digital asset introduced by BitSafe. This listing marks the first time CBTC is available for trading on a centralized exchange, and eligible customers can buy and sell this asset in US dollars through EDX's market.

CBTC is supported 1:1 by Bitcoin, aiming to introduce its value into the financial ecosystem of Canton. Through CBTC, customers can access Bitcoin-backed assets in an ecologically private environment provided by Canton, which supports uses including transactions, lending, and asset transfers. This asset adopts distributed reserve control and Chainlink Proof of Reserve to enhance the transparency of its Bitcoin support.

EDX Markets Chief Commercial Officer David Olsson stated: "As institutions' adoption of digital assets continues to evolve, it has become increasingly important to connect to emerging blockchain ecosystems through reliable trading infrastructure. Our collaboration with BitSafe has expanded the range of tradable assets for EDX participants, while also providing a new entry point to access Bitcoin-supported value on Canton. This listing reflects our ongoing commitment to connecting customers with new opportunities in the digital asset market."

This launch will initially introduce the CBTC / USD spot market, and plans to add CBTC / USD perpetual contracts in the coming weeks. CBTC / BTC spot trading is also scheduled to be launched in subsequent phases. EDX also plans to include Canton Coin as eligible collateral for CBTC perpetual contract trading. In addition, EDX and BitSafe will introduce trading incentive programs, including zero transaction fees for eligible CBTC trades, platform coverage of CBTC withdrawal fees, and distribution of Canton Coin rewards based on eligible trading volume. The details will be subject to the plan terms.

BitSafe CEO Aki Balogh stated: "The potential of Bitcoin is far beyond being held as a single asset, especially as institutional financial activities expand on Canton. CBTC enables enterprises to utilize the value supported by Bitcoin in transactions, lending, and other financial applications, while maintaining transparency regarding the asset-backed situation. Cooperation with EDX has established an important new entry point that helps market participants and supports the continuous growth of the CBTC ecosystem."

The principal brokerage digital asset trading firm Granite River Trading ( GRT ) will provide liquidity for the CBTC market of EDX. It will initially cover the CBTC / USD spot market and will continue to expand support after more CBTC markets are launched.

GRT, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder, Josh Gibson stated: "Before institutions can use Bitcoin for Canton, they need a deep and reliable market. As Canton verifiers and liquidity partners on the first day of EDX's launch, we will provide bilateral CBTC / USD quotes from the very beginning of its launch. It is liquidity that turns a newly listed asset into a real market, and we are delighted to help BitSafe build such a market."

This collaboration reflects the joint commitment of EDX Markets and BitSafe to expand the integration of digital assets and support the growth of the Canton financial ecosystem. By combining the trading infrastructure of EDX with the Bitcoin-supported assets of BitSafe, the two companies aim to enhance liquidity, increase market participation, and create new opportunities for institutions to access Bitcoin-supported value on Canton.
