Fox has completed its $22 billion acquisition of Roku, marking one of the largest media deals in recent years and providing significant boost to the company in the fields of streaming media and connected television.

The transaction was announced to be completed on Friday. With the completion of the deal, this streaming company, which was founded in 2002, has officially become part of Fox. Fox stated that, based on viewership, the merged company is now the third-largest television business in the United States.

Roku Founder Anthony Wood stated in a declaration: "Over twenty years ago, we founded Roku with the aim of providing people with a better way to watch television, and that mission has not changed to this day. What has changed is our reach and our resources."

He also stated, "Our team will continue to build and innovate as we have in the past, and now we have Fox providing support and capabilities behind us."

For Fox, this transaction enables it to directly reach over 100 million households covered by Roku. The company expects that this audience base will help it improve its advertising targeting capabilities, strengthen its position in the rapidly growing connected television market, and reduce its reliance on traditional television distribution channels.

Today's announcement comes just two months after the U.S. Department of Justice issued its second round of information requests. At that time, the DOJ requested more data and documents from the two companies to assist in its antitrust review. Earlier this month, there were reports indicating that the transaction was nearing approval from U.S. regulators.

The completion time of this acquisition also came earlier than expected. When the deal was first announced in June of this year, both companies had anticipated that it would be completed in the first half of 2027.
