According to CoinMeta, as reported by digital and asset, the Seoul Central District Court ruled in favor of KOSDAQ, a listed company in South Korea, in a lawsuit for the return of 24.1 billion Korean won (about 17 million US dollars) paid for the acquisition of former shareholders of the now-defunct cryptocurrency exchange Hanbitco. The court noted that among the transaction data used to assess the value of Hanbitco's shares, 99.96% were self-trades between the same parties ID. If these transactions were excluded, the value of the shares would be assessed as zero. The former shareholders failed to disclose this information during the acquisition process, which constitutes fraud. Additionally, the judgment revealed for the first time that in 2021, approximately 2.3 billion Korean won (about 1.6 million US dollars) worth of cryptocurrency assets were stolen due to an intrusion into the company's director's email and the leakage of the hot wallet private keys, yet they did not report this incident to the relevant authorities. Hanbitco ceased operations in May 2024.
