According to CoinMeta, the UK National Economic Crime Centre (necc) pointed out in its annual report that criminals are using crypto asset products in "innovative" ways to evade detection and carry out large-scale transfers of illicit funds. The report indicates that AI and cryptocurrencies have been listed as emerging threats, with crypto assets ranking third among the nine top economic crime priorities identified jointly by necc, FCA, and the Ministry of Finance. necc stated that it will build proactive intelligence-driven capabilities to combat crypto-related crimes. Previously, the nca initiative, in collaboration with the US Secret Service, Coinbase, Binance, Kraken, and Tether, known as "Operation Atlantic," identified 20,000 victims of phishing attacks and froze $12 million in assets in March of this year.
