According to CoinMeta, Bank of America successfully completed the first real-time pilot of a stablecoin designated as USBDC, transferring funds between its branches in the United States and Europe via the Stellar blockchain. The bank chose not to create a private network, demonstrating that large amounts of capital can be transferred securely over an open network. Jamie Walker, the person in charge of digital assets, stated that the platform has been integrated into the internal risk management system, and the code for USBDC includes features for freezing and recovering funds. If payments are sent to the wrong address, the bank can immediately freeze or return the funds. Denelle Dixon, the CEO of the Stellar Development Foundation, called this launch an important precedent for the industry, emphasizing that Bank of America’s pilot is a clear example of regulated financial institutions using Stellar for compliant cross-border settlements. Gunjan Kedia, the CEO of Bank of America, confirmed the success of the pilot, stating that this technology will enable the bank to transfer capital between continents around the clock with almost no cost. According to the latest RWA.xyz data, this network ecosystem currently holds $3.32 billion in real assets.
