2026-09-11 14:41:50
According to CoinMeta, Wu said that Blockstream tweeted that they would not pay a ransom to retrieve the stolen Bitcoin belonging to Liquid Network, stating that obtaining assets without authorization and refusing to return them constitutes theft, and is not considered responsible disclosure or white-hat behavior. Blockstream claimed that they have been working through communication to facilitate the return of user funds, but will not accept such demands or conditions, nor will they let open-source software developers bear a ransom that far exceeds their level of economic involvement. Blockstream emphasized that if the stolen funds are not returned, they will cooperate with law enforcement agencies, exchanges, service providers, and forensic experts to trace and recover the assets through all legal means, and to identify the responsible parties. They also stressed that Bitcoin transactions are transparent, and that the relevant evidence will not disappear.
