Asian refiners seek long-term contracts for Saudi crude oil, preferring Brent pricing
2026-09-11 16:16:06
According to CoinMeta, at least two Asian refiners have requested that Saudi Aramco change the pricing benchmark for their long-term crude oil supply contracts from the Dubai benchmark price to the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) Brent crude oil price. These refiners made the request during discussions about supplies for 2027 this week, pointing out that the volatility of Middle Eastern benchmark prices has increased due to several types of crude oil loaded within the Strait of Hormuz being removed from the system in the early stages of the Iran war, resulting in a decrease in the amount of tradable crude oil. Other Middle Eastern oil producers have also received similar requests.
