According to CoinMeta, and as reported by edaily, the local court in northern Seoul, South Korea, has rendered a verdict in a cryptocurrency fraud case, sentencing the two main culprits to 14 years in prison each. The gang issued and sold nearly 30 types of tokens through fake white papers and business plans. For some projects that were unable to list on overseas exchanges, they did not actually distribute tokens to investors. Instead, they forged transaction records in app and artificially inflated prices through arbitrage transactions. The investigating authorities determined that the total funds from the sale of these tokens amounted to approximately 68.1 million US dollars. The prosecution had requested the recovery of around 17.3 million US dollars, but the court did not support this request due to difficulties in clearly distinguishing the actual gains of each defendant.
