Bitwise Closes Dogecoin ETF: Weak Demand on Wall Street
2026-09-12 21:49:53
According to CoinMeta, Bitwise announced that it will shut down its Dogecoin ETF ( BWOW ) in 10 months due to Wall Street's demand for the product not meeting expectations. The assets of this ETF were close to $722,000 at the time of closure, which is far lower than the performance of its competitors. Bitwise informed SEC on September 10 that it would shut down this ETF, with the last trading day set for October 14. Remaining shareholders are expected to receive their cash on October 22. Although Dogecoin has obtained regulatory ETF access, investor usage has been very limited. In August, the net inflow of the US Dogecoin ETF was only about $318,000, while other emerging altcoin products attracted more trading activity.
