At its latest press conference, Apple introduced a set of audio intelligence features for Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4, among which the most notable feature is a meeting note tool that can organize conversation content. The new feature is named Siri Recap, which can generate conversation titles, summaries, and key points, which users can then view within the Siri app.

According to Apple, this feature extracts conversation content through ambient listening but does not save the full recordings. Users can choose to have it always on, enable it at specific times, or turn it off completely.

Apple states that the system does not save the original recordings, and the original audio cannot be accessed either. Siri Recap also does not identify the speaker's identity; therefore, it is more akin to an automatic summarization tool rather than a traditional recording transcription product.

Synchronize with voice recognition.

In addition to conversation summarization, Apple has also brought more audio recognition capabilities to its watches, including a song recognition function that integrates Shazam. Users can now identify the music playing around them more quickly.

Apple Watch can also recognize environmental sounds such as sirens, alarms, doorbells, or baby cries, and send reminders to the user. This means that the watch's audio capabilities are expanding from voice assistants to environmental perception.

Supports 15-second content review

Apple has also introduced a feature named Live Rewind this time. After users double-click the digital crown, they can review the conversation content from the past 15 seconds. Apple states that this review content is end-to-end encrypted.

However, despite Apple's measures such as not storing recordings and restricting access to the original audio, continuous listening functions may still trigger privacy discussions, as the summaries of conversations themselves may still contain sensitive information.
