NVIDIA and Cisco announced yesterday local time the launch of the industry's first pluggable optical module specification that supports 400Gbps high-speed signals. This specification is similar in size to existing ones, with the first batch of products integrating 16 full-duplex channels, which can be expanded to 32 or more channels later on, achieving a throughput of up to 12.8 Tbps/s.

NVIDIA and Cisco (Cisco) announced yesterday local time that they have jointly launched the industry's first pluggable optical module specification that supports 400Gbps/ lane high-speed signals.

The USFP and OSFP optical modules are of similar size. The first batch of products integrates 16 full-duplex channels, which can be expanded to 32 or even more channels in the future, thereby achieving a throughput of 12.8 Tb /s.

The bandwidth of the optical module can reach 4 times that of the current 200G lane; and with the support of 400G SerDes technology, the energy efficiency of USFP is 1.3 times that of the latter.

It adopts a new type of two-dimensional array connector, which features a two-step insertion design that allows for the connection of high-speed contacts only after the module is inserted. This reduces contact wear, improves signal integrity, and makes the insertion force more predictable; it supports a power consumption of 100W, simplifying the design of switches.

Affected by the sharp decline in U.S. stock markets, South Korean stocks tumbled more than 5% for the second consecutive day; SK Hynix fell nearly 8%
Asian and Pacific stock markets tumbled significantly on Tuesday, with the decline in trading enthusiasm for AI and the added pressure of competition in memory chips hitting South Korean and Japanese tech stocks particularly hard. The South Korean Composite Index fell by 5.1%, triggering the Sidecar mechanism, and both Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix suffered double-digit losses; Japan's SoftBank Group, Tokyo Electron, and Advantest also saw significant declines.

Samsung Wallet prepares to integrate with USDC: Solana enters the mobile phone ecosystem, but its launch is still scheduled for the end of the month.
Stablecoin companies have always wanted to move from trading platforms to become a part of everyday payment tools for ordinary people, and this time it's mobile wallets that are set to be the entry point. Samsung USA and the official representatives of Solana have disclosed that Samsung Wallet plans to offer stablecoin functionality to eligible US Galaxy users in the last week of October. The initial rollout will focus on USDC, with Solana being one of the related transfer infrastructures. What can be confirmed today is the window for cooperation and reservation; it's not appropriate to claim that the feature, which has not yet been released, is already available to all mobile users. Samsung has also listed other infrastructure partners, so the statement that “Samsung Wallet only uses Solana” is also not accurate.

British banks say financing volumes are increasing, but deposits and costs are not moving in the same direction.
Also on October 8th, the Bank of England released another report that can easily be confused with credit surveys: the 'Bank Lending Survey' for the third quarter of 2026. This report examines where banks obtain funds, what costs they incur, and whether they are able to continue raising capital, rather than whether residents or businesses can obtain loans. The surveyed banks indicated that overall financing volumes increased in the third quarter and expect this trend to continue into the fourth quarter; however, retail deposits, corporate deposits, and other sources of financing did not all move in the same direction. When discussing a bank's lending capacity, it is often more relevant to look at the liability side first than to focus solely on loan interest rates, as this provides a closer approximation of the actual constraints faced by banks.
